Hi. I usually come early June with a bunch, (6 to 12) guys from Mn. Some of us have been coming to Therrien's Forest Lake Lodge for about 23+ years. I am coming June 28th with my wife this year and again in Sept. with one of my friends, both will be for a week. We love it up there and I wanted to commend you on the web site, you have done a great job. We have been by your cabin many times and have to admit we all are a little envious; it is a great location and very well kept. Hope to see you one day when we are at Gordie's or while we pass your point.

You have two beautiful sites, on the web and at Forest Lake. This September will mark my nineteenth stay with Gordie and Mary at Forest Lake Lodge, wonderful people. As a matter of fact, my son and I used your dock while resusitating a 44 inch muskie last September. Thanks again for the beautiful images.

My father, Wren Norris, first owned the cabin in the late 1950s. At the time, there was no electricity and the water was pumped from the lake to a holding tank on the back porch. The "biffy" was out back, and the "bath tub" was Forest Lake. The only heat was the fire place and Daddy would go from Missouri as soon as Gordie said the ice was out of the lake and he would stay until the cold weather drove him home. Mother would join him in the summer. At the time, everyone on the lake parked at the Indian school through the narrows and went by boat. Gordie's folks were still alive and they had a radio type phone. I can't tell you how many good memories I have of the place.

What a joy to see this site, my father and i have been staying at Forest Lake Lodge for about 20 yrs now (sept). Last sept was awesome fishing by your cabin with walleye and 2 lg musky caught between the 1st island and your beautiful cabin. Of course all large fish were released.

Cool web site love the satellite image. My wife's biggest walleye to date is a 27.5 caught just north of your place on the point closest to the narrows.

I've made the trip to Canada. We didn't catch any fish the first day. On the other hand I did meet Dixie and Denver. The second day it rained most of the time so we relaxed. When the time was right to fish again I caught the first and second fish and Papa caught the last two. We also played Uno. The third day I caught the first fish and Papa also caught a fish. Storms came in and we had to go in. We played Uno. The fourth day the trolling motor broke while we were fishing. We went into town and fixed it. We come back and I caught the first and last fish of the day.

It is only David and I. I had heard so many stories and looked over the big fish photos on his web site -- was looking forward to meeting David's fishing buddies. We had a great time. The weather kept changing ... rainy, cool, then windy, then nice and the fishing improved dramatically. This is a beautiful cabin and I am thankful for the time spent here. David and I met Doc Parro's relatives and stopping by there brought back some old memories -- for that was a long, long time ago when I was last here on Forest Lake. -- Sonar
Was great to have Will with me this trip. The last time we were up here together was during a father & son trip way back in the late 70s and we stayed at Doc Parro's cabin. We motored by one day to relive the memories and saw people in the yard. Stopped to chat and met Doc's wife and Dave and Annette (daughter) Carter. Doc recently passed away and the family is gathering here next week to spread his ashes in the bay. They gave us a quick tour of the cabin and it brought back so many memories. Was great to meet them and hope to establish a lasting relationship with them. -- David

Your family is so lucky to have that property!! My family has been fishing on that chain and staying at Therrien's Forest Lake Lodge for four generations (it would be five if I had a boy) and that picture on your website brings back so many great memories of my father, grandfather and I trolling along those shores and casting for muskie when I was young!

The chippy is on the deck this a.m. (5:15) and making quite a racket. He sat for a moment on the back of one of the chairs looking in at me. We again caught lots of fish. Many very small ones this year. Good sign for the future. Water temp was in the 70s and we wonder if this pushed the bigger fish to the depths. We also caught our fish in new fishing holes. That always adds to our sense of adventure. Great fun naming new spots. I love the porch most of all. The scenery is unmatched. The sun has just layered the horizon with a golden hue and one feels like the whole world is peaceful.

Wednesday through Saturday an never go as fast as it does at Bolen's Point. Got up early to reflect on this year's trip. So peaceful to be here. Sitting on the porch at the dinner table and a bear walked down the shoreline towards the dock. It was just after 5am on this Sunday. No one will believe me but the feeling I am experiencing from watching that shining black coat malking out of the trees is fantastic. I saw another bear in a tree back by the burn pile. Much smaller than the first. He scared me when he "jumped" down and ran back into the hills! He seemed just as scared as I though. Fishing was good again. David showed us the way with a 25.5 incher. More beautiful than the bear in the fog on the shoreline. It was a nice fish. Wish more sun could have blessed us this year. Two days of rain. The new trees are doing well. It is the new life that make the "point" look different each year. Looking forward to next year to experience the changes and the world of the North Country.

We have just concluded another wonderful fishing trip at Bolen's Point. As usual the cabin was awesome, the scenery was beautiful and David cooked up a couple of gournet walleye dinners. This year's trip will be remembered for the quality of fish caught. David led the way catching big fish and had a career day on our 2nd day of the trip. He landed three large walleye including 21.5", 26" and 28". The two biggest ones were caught on consecutive casts. On the last day of the trip, we were able to get in on the action. Luke caught his first 21 incher. Then David gave us a beautiful boat ride up Moose Creek while we casted for muskie. We had 4 trailers or near misses and Randy and I both were able to land two nice 35" muskies. Finally on our last night Randy landed his first 40" muskie. It was a beautiful fish and wonderful way to end our trip. As I sit here on the deck I hate to leave because I truly believe this is the most beautiful place on earth.

Jeff, Luke and I joined David for our 4th annual outing with the usual wonderful results. Fishing was great with several large fish caught. This includes "Sir Walter" as appropriately named by David. It was a 30.25", 10-pound walleye caught and released in Whitney. What a beautiful fish! So old it was grey in color. Weather was cold and it rained almost every day for at least part of it. One morning was 45 degrees and clear. Was chilly fishing that morning. Fishing at midnight on our first night David and I were able to watch a glorious display of the Northern Lights. Not a lot of color but still a good show. The beaver showed up regularly at 9:50pm; we could count on it.

Enjoyed another three glorious days at Bolen's Point. David landed a 24-inch "Sir Walter" walleye. Such a beautiful fish! The sunset last night was the nicest of our trip a sendoff fitting of only Bolen's Point. The cabin looks great better every year. Sitting on the dock on Tuesday morning a loon swam under they are as beautiful under the water as on it the dock and surfaced next to me. Never been so close to one and it was on the dock! This has to be close as it gets to God's Country. Thanks again for sharing your wonder with us again. We all feel blessed to have had this opportunity and grateful to David for his friendship and loyalty.

This was another wonderful time in the North Country at Bolen's Point. Fortunately the weather was great, making fishing as good as it could be. David is the perfectd host, yet he is an even better fishing guide. Walleye were everywhere it seemed. A black bear swam across the lake while I was out muskie fishing just south of the point on the 15th. Absolutely beautiful and a natural wonder to see. On the 14th we even saw a whitetail deer on the shore across from Denver's cabin. Thanks for the memories and sharing your cabin. It is very much appreciated. -- Red
Once again we had a wonderful stay at Bolen's Point. We spent five great days chasing Wally and Wanda. The fishing was excellent on four of the five days and it seemed like we were catching a walleye every other minute. The scenery was beautiful and I especially enjoyed our hour plus hike that Jeff and I took up Bolen's mountain. I don't think I will ever see too many trees or hear too many loons. Thanks for sharing your cabin with us. I have enjoyed my stay with nature. -- Fishdog
My first experience at Bolen's Point was a great one. I can't tell you how much I was looking forward to the trip and this is the perfect place to come to. David is an excellent host and guide. He led us to many fish and made for a nice time spent with good friends. I think my most memorable time hwere was upon first arrival what a beautiful country! It is so unbelievably quiet and peaceful. Thanks for the opportunity to experience another world. -- Lunker

September is supposed to be the most beautiful month in the North Country. However that could be debated after the few days we just spent on your remarkable Point. Fishing was very good and weather ideal. Loons were singing tunes that won't soon be forgotten and the stars on the night of the 24th made sure we knew were at heaven's door. You have all found a special place in the hearts of two fishermen wannabes.
